Olga Kefalogianni at the 3rd Economic Conference of Nautemporiki: “Productive Greece in the Next Decade”
At the 3rd Economic Conference organized by Nautemporiki titled “Productive Greece in the Next Decade,” the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, emphasized the importance of human resources in tourism and announced a new training initiative. This program aims to enhance the skills of 20,000 workers through reskilling and upskilling, supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Fund with a budget of €45 million.
During the conference, Ms. Kefalogianni discussed the Ministry’s strategic priorities, focusing on the diversification of the Greek tourism product beyond the traditional “sun and sea” model. She outlined plans for the promotion of alternative forms of tourism, such as mountain, winter, maritime, and wellness tourism, as well as the development of agritourism, gastronomic tourism, and wine tourism, aiming to bring growth to less developed regions.
She also highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism development, balancing economic growth with the protection of the natural environment and local communities. The Minister pointed out that based on current data for 2024, Greece has seen a significant increase in tourism revenue and arrivals, which is expected to continue into 2025.
Her speech underlined Greece’s vision to become a leader in sustainable tourism, utilizing innovative digital tools and marketing strategies to promote special tourism forms and create added value for both destinations and businesses.
